Quick answer: choose a blow dryer if you want the fastest drying and full control with attachments, a blow dryer brush if you want to dry and add volume or smoothness in one step, a hot air straightener if you want to dry and straighten at once, and a multi-styler if you like switching looks with one handle. All Straight Ahead dryers and air stylers are made for US outlets (they also work in Canada and Mexico); none should be used with a voltage converter.
How they differ
Blow dryer
A blow dryer moves the most air, so it dries long or thick hair fastest. You choose the attachment: a nozzle for a sleek blowout with a round brush, a diffuser for curls. The 3800 Turbo uses far infrared heat with 1875W, three heat and three speed settings and comes with two nozzles and a diffuser. The Aerio Pro uses negative ions with 1600W, three heat and three speed settings, a self-cleaning filter and comes with two nozzles, a diffuser and two curling barrels.
Blow dryer brush
A blow dryer brush dries towel-dried hair while the bristles add tension, so you get lift and shape without holding a separate brush. The round 2in Infrared Air Styler (2-inch tourmaline-ceramic barrel, 3 heat and 2 speed settings) adds volume and bends; the Volumizer Pro 2.0 paddle smooths; the Mini Air Styler is sized for bangs, bobs and travel bags. Each is 1000W for 120V outlets. More tips in our blow dryer brush guide.
Hot air straightener
The Air Glide combines airflow and heat to dry and straighten towel-dried hair in one step, and refreshes dry hair too. It is 1200W for 110V outlets, has three airflow speeds, a Boost mode and a Cool Shot, and uses no infrared or ions. See how to use a hot air straightener.
Multi-styler
The Sleek Styler uses six interchangeable attachments with adjustable heat and a 360° swivel cord, for curls, waves, volume and polished everyday looks. It is sold while stock lasts.

Which one fits your hair?
- Long or thick hair: a full-size dryer (3800 Turbo or Aerio Pro) dries fastest; finish with a round brush or a flat iron.
- Fine or flat hair: the 2in Infrared Air Styler adds root lift; use the lowest heat that works.
- Frizz-prone hair: the Aerio Pro (negative ions) or the Volumizer Pro 2.0 paddle for a smoother finish, with a heat protectant.
- Curly hair you want to keep curly: a dryer with a diffuser (both full-size dryers include one).
- Short hair and bangs: the Mini Air Styler.
- Want it straight in one step: the Air Glide.
Care and safety
Keep the air intake clear and clean the filter at the back regularly; a blocked filter can make a dryer cut out or blow cold. Unplug and let tools cool before cleaning, never use them near water, and only use them at the voltage on the label. Our voltage guide explains travel.

Frequently asked questions
Is a blow dryer brush better than a blow dryer?
Neither is better for everyone. A blow dryer dries fastest and works with nozzles and diffusers; a blow dryer brush dries and styles in one step, which many people find easier for volume and smooth blowouts on towel-dried hair.
Can a blow dryer brush replace my dryer and round brush?
For many routines, yes: it dries and shapes at the same time. On very long or thick hair, a full-size dryer is faster for the first rough-dry.
What is the difference between an air styler and a hot air straightener?
A blow dryer brush or air styler uses airflow with bristles or attachments to dry and shape. A hot air straightener such as the Air Glide combines airflow and heat to dry and straighten in one step.
Are Straight Ahead blow dryers dual voltage?
No. The 3800 Turbo and Aerio Pro are 110–125V, the Air Glide is 110V, and the 2in Infrared Air Styler, Volumizer Pro 2.0 and Mini Air Styler are 120V. They work in the US, Canada and Mexico; never use them with a voltage converter.
Which dryer comes with a diffuser?
Both the 3800 Turbo Infrared Blow Dryer (2 nozzles and a diffuser) and the Aerio Pro Digital Ionic Blow Dryer (2 nozzles, a diffuser and 2 curling barrels).
Are they covered by a warranty?
Yes. Bought new from our website or an authorized retailer, Straight Ahead hair tools carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects for as long as you, the original customer, own them. Register within 14 days of purchase.
