Quick answer: a tool marked 110–240V (dual voltage) works almost anywhere with a plug adapter that fits the outlet. A tool for US outlets only (110V, 110–125V or 120V) works in the US, Canada and Mexico, which use the same outlets, but should not be used anywhere else. Never use a voltage converter with a hair tool: converters are not safe with heat tools, and damage from the wrong voltage or a converter is not covered by the warranty.
The voltages below come from the manufacturers' specifications. Always check the rating label on your own tool too.

Adapter vs. converter
- Plug adapter: only changes the shape of the plug so it fits a foreign outlet. Use one with dual-voltage tools.
- Voltage converter: tries to change the electricity itself. Don't use one with any hair tool: heat tools draw too much power for them, and the tool can overheat or stop working.
Packing tips
- Let hot tools cool completely before packing, and wrap them in a heat-resistant Heat Mat.
- Don't wrap the cord tightly around the tool.
- Charge cordless tools fully with the original cable before you go.
- For a compact kit, see our travel hair tools guide.

Frequently asked questions
Which Straight Ahead hair tools are dual voltage?
Confirmed dual voltage (110–240V): Omega, Nova 2", Infrared Breeze Air Styler Pro, the 3/4", 1" and 1.25" Pro Styling Wands, the Pro Styling Wand Set, Mermaid Waver, Cosmo, Pro Glider 1.0, Pro Glider 2.0 and SA Macho 2.0.
Can I use my Straight Ahead blow dryer abroad?
Only in the US, Canada and Mexico. The 3800 Turbo and Aerio Pro are 110–125V, the Air Glide is 110V, and the 2in Infrared Air Styler, Volumizer Pro 2.0 and Mini Air Styler are 120V. Don't use them elsewhere, and never with a voltage converter.
Do I need a converter for a dual-voltage flat iron?
No. A dual-voltage tool only needs a plug adapter that fits the outlet. Never use a voltage converter with a hair tool.
Does my US tool work in Canada or Mexico?
Yes. Canada and Mexico use the same outlets as the US, so any tool that works in the US works there without an adapter.
Is damage from the wrong voltage covered by the warranty?
No. Using a tool at the wrong voltage or with a converter is not covered. Always use a tool at the voltage on its label.
My tool is not on the confirmed list. What should I do?
Check the rating label on the tool or its manual, or email cs@straightaheadbeauty.com before you travel and we will confirm it.
